Waiting Parents: Kyle and Molly

Hi, we’re Kyle and Molly, and we are high school sweethearts – kind of! We met when we were 15 years old and were just good friends all through high school. As seniors at the same school, we went to prom together and then started dating, and we’ve been together ever since! We got married in June 2012, the week after Kyle graduated from Texas A&M.

Kyle is a Project Manager for a highway contractor and Molly is the Office Manager for a chiropractic clinic. We have literally grown up together (20 years of knowing each other!) and been with each other through so many life stages. We are followers of Christ, best friends, mom and dad, and avid readers!

Molly’s favorite things about Kyle:

It’s hard to narrow them all down but I love that he is such a hard worker. He puts his family first every single day. He’s also so patient, humble, and truly one of the funniest people I know. He’s very shy though so not many people get to see his sense of humor! He leads our family well and always looks to the Lord for the right decisions. He sets an amazing example for our boys in the way that he treats and respects me. Being married to Kyle is a treasure I don’t take for granted.

Kyle’s favorite things about Molly:

Molly is my best friend and hands down the greatest person I have ever known. She is the most generous, kind, loving, and real person I have ever met. If life was a playground game and we got to pick teams, she would be the one picked first every time. I don’t know of anyone who does not leave her presence better than when they got there. Seeing her as a mom to our two boys has been so much better than I could have ever imagined. Adopting has been on our heart from day one and I cannot wait to see her continue to shine in her role as a mom.

We have two little boys, Ollie and Gus! Ollie is the smartest kid we know and loves learning. He started basketball and baseball this year and has learned so much about being a team player and made so many great friends. He loves trading Pokémon cards and hunting deer with his Dad and Grandaddy. Gus is the funniest kid around! He’s a homebody and loves to play Mario Kart and Minecraft video games. He loves building Legos and he’s just learned to ride his bike with no training wheels this year! Ollie accepted Jesus into his heart two years ago and he loves to share what Jesus did with other people. We recently welcomed a rescued Great Pyrenees puppy into our home named Shep! He’s so sweet and gentle, and the boys have so much fun with him!

We have always dreamed of adding to our family through adoption. We visited an orphanage in Mexico many times throughout high school and college and God has always spoken to us through those visits, and blessed us with unforgettable memories from our times there. Kyle’s mom and her siblings were adopted and we believe that adoption is one of the greatest gifts there is. Our church is incredibly supportive of birth moms and adoptive families, and we are always encouraged to follow God’s will in our lives. We truly believe that that is adoption and we are so excited to grow our family! Our boys have been praying over their future brother or sister for years now and they understand how incredible the gift of adoption will be to our family. We don’t think there are siblings more excited to meet their sister or brother!

Fun & funny facts about us:

  • We raise quail! Ollie hatched eggs as part of a class project in first grade. We took them home, built a habitat, and eat the eggs they lay! They are super yummy and high in protein!
  • We’ve been to 13 major league baseball stadiums and 5 minor league! Our goal is to visit them all!
  • We’d rather eat at a hole in the wall diner than a chain restaurant or a fancy steakhouse! We’ve been to around 30 different diners and find a new one every trip we take!
  • In 17 years of dating and marriage, Kyle and Molly have never seen each other on Thanksgiving Day! Kyle always goes hunting with his dad and brothers, and Molly heads to her grandma’s house for lunch, family games and football! A few years ago, we started a new tradition where we cook all the Thanksgiving staples and get to eat Thanksgiving dinner together- just a few days later!
  • We LOVE board games. Our family favorites are Uno, Monopoly, Scrabble, and Life.
  • We go BIG at Christmas! We put a tree in each room of the house, decorate every surface, and celebrate Christmas all of December. The boys love decorating the trees and pulling out their old ornaments. Each year, we buy a new “family” ornament and write the year on it. It’s so fun to reminisce! We love Christmas lights and each year we visit Santaland in Tyler!

We live close to nearly all of our family and we see them almost daily. Our boys are blessed that their aunts and uncles, and grandparents and great-grandparents are nearby. They often go fishing with their Pops and CB, help their Grandaddy around the office, and go camping with their Papa. Their Cita shows them how to craft, Grammy loves to read with them, AJ takes them exploring and Gigi likes to bake! We live around the corner from aunts and uncles and they play every day together and get to go to school with their cousins. We love our hometown and we’re so excited for all the new restaurants and shops coming soon, but having family close to grow with makes it even better!
