Waiting Parents: David and Juile

Hello! We are David, Julie and Hazel. Thank you for taking the time to meet our family. We have been praying for you and your sweet child daily. We cannot imagine the weight of this decision but trust that God is helping you find the best family for your child.

The story of how we met almost sounds like the start of a romantic comedy. We first met on Valentine’s Day at a single’s party. You might think “love at first sight” but David had no idea it was Valentine’s Day! We still laugh thinking back that night when Julie was just trying to meet new people and David was so tired from a long work week. There were no initial sparks flying that night, but it was the beginning of a friendship. Two years later we started dating, and 1 year later we got married. We can’t believe it has already been 7 years of marriage and fun!

We are so blessed to be parents to our girl Hazel who was born to us in 2020 after many years of infertility. Even though we continue to experience infertility, God has put a desire in our hearts to grow our family through adoption. We long to love and cherish another child and provide a loving family and forever home for them.

David is the neighborhood handyman, methodical yet creative, a big kid at heart, and enjoys being outdoors riding his bike. He is always learning something new while working with his hands, and is either building (or sometimes breaking) something in the garage or backyard. David loves being a dad and loves doing one on one things with Hazel whether going to the park or going to a coffee shop for a treat. He’s the best dad and is kind, loving, patient and so much fun.

Julie is the neighborhood mayor, and knows everyone on our entire street. She loves people. Her favorite thing is running into someone she knows while out and about during normal everyday errands. Julie’s creativity comes out in her hobbies. She loves to bake, make floral arrangements, and her newest and most favorite hobby is pottery. Julie loves being a mom! She loves spending her days exploring and learning with Hazel about the world around us. She’s caring, diligent and loves to be with her family.

David works in the engineering field as a structural engineer. He mostly works on buildings and enjoys seeing his work being built all around us. Julie is a nurse by trade, but now stays at home with our daughter and wouldn’t trade that for the world. She looks forward to staying at home with all of our children.

Our daughter Hazel is almost four years old and is super silly and loves to laugh. She loves to play and explore with her friends and wants to see them all every day. She makes up the silliest stories and songs when she is playing, it is so fun to watch. Her mind is continually churning with questions and she soaks up everything like a sponge. She sure keeps us on our toes. Hazel is looking forward to having a brother AND sister as she tells us.

Daniel, Mary, and Samuel

We love to travel and experience new things. Julie’s love is hiking, so most of our travel adventures include the great outdoors and mountains to hike on. While we are hiking, we love to enjoy great food and seek out the best restaurants or especially the best ice cream spots we can find.

We are blessed to live in an incredible neighborhood with lots of kids, friends, and a huge park. Its known for its community mindset, which is what drew us to this neighborhood. Our home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, with a large kitchen, open living space and a nice big backyard for playing and hanging out.

Since we are both transplants to Texas most of our families are out of state. David’s family is in Kansas except for his sister who just moved into our neighborhood (yay!) and Julie’s family is in northern California. We are very close in relationship to our families and see each other often.
Thank you for taking the time to meet our family. We know you have an incredibly difficult decision to make as you plan for your child’s future.

Please know that we are daily praying for you as you are on this journey. We would love for your child to be a part of our family as we learn to celebrate others and enjoy life, to explore the world, and to love the God who created it. We love you and are so proud of the decision you are making!
