Waiting Parents: Austin and Charlie

We are Austin and Charlie! Our journey began in 2013 when we met at church and dated for 2 years until we married in 2014. Two years later, we had our first wonderful addition to our family, Lennon Breann. We are a team for sure! Faith and family are the foundation of our lives.

We love being around each other and doing everything together. We enjoy date nights, exercising together, attending lots of live music shows, cooking together, and going on walks together. It is very important to us to have family dinners together. We believe our greatest responsibility, as parents, is to ensure that our children know God and know that they are loved by us.

While family is extremely important to us, providing services to others is also important to us. We believe that the Lord gave us our skills, resources and giftings to bless and help others. Therefore, we spend many hours per month helping volunteer with our favorite nonprofits and giving back to our community!

Most of Charlie’s family live within 15 minutes from us and Austin’s family lives approximately 5 hours from us. We vacation, spend holidays, and invest immensely in each other’s families.

Austin is one of the founding doctors of a health-care clinic. Austin is a passionate, hardworking, and easygoing individual. He is known by many of his family and friends as a good voice of reason and empathetic individual. Anything that he does in life, he devotes 100% to it. He is not seen as someone who does things halfway or doesn’t see them through to the finish. He spends a large portion of his day-to-day life seeing patients and caring for their well-being. Being a type-1 enneagram, he is viewed as a “right and wrong” type of person that gets most of his stability through daily routines and being fully present in what he is doing. As a man of God, he sees where many of his positive traits can easily become negative when his priorities aren’t aligned. Through leading his family, business, and multiple relationships in his life, he understands that good qualities can quickly shift to a struggle with work and life balance, OCD, and overlooking feelings of those surrounding him. He enjoys down time away from the clinic focusing on time with Charlie and Lennon. Investing in them while doing a myriad of different things together as a family. Austin knows that Charlie was truly a gift from God in his life to help him see his weaknesses and help him become a better Christ follower, husband, father, and physician.

Charlie is the founder and executive director of a music nonprofit. Charlie is a true type-2 enneagram with a 3 wing, which is classified as the helper and achiever. She’s empathetic, warm-hearted, friendly, generous, self-sacrificing and she’s driven to be close to others. Charlie is someone who sees people as they are, understands them with immense compassion, helps and encourages, and is always willing to lend a hand. Charlie is well known in the community by all of the charity work she does within her profession. And loyalty is one of her highest valued traits. As a woman of God, service is extremely important to her and she believes that the Lord has given everyone gifts, talents and resources and it’s our job to use them to serve others. Investing in her family is the highest priority and we spend time participating in many activities together. Charlie knows Austin is her greatest blessing from Jesus, they work as a team in life making decisions for what’s best for their family.

We live in a great neighborhood filled with lots of children. We live in Frisco, Texas about 20 miles outside of Dallas Texas. We get to enjoy small suburb living and still have access to the big city. Our neighborhood has a big swimming pool, parks, and a backyard perfect for playing.

We have 2 wonderful members of our family Sophie and Thor, our Morkies. They bring us much joy and we take them everywhere with us! They love to cuddle on the couch and go for walks at the park with our whole family.

While dating and even before we met, we always had a strong desire to adopt. After an intense labor and lots of prayer, we heard God calling us to move forward with adoption. Adoption is such a beautiful picture of what God has done for us, so we thought that it is perfect timing.

We have the responsibility to care for the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of them. The most important biblical duty as a parent is to teach our children about Jesus in action and word. We are a child’s first witnesses to the Gospel.
