Waiting Parents: Alex and Ashton

Alex and I grew up 2 blocks from one another. We attended the same elementary, middle, and high school and grew up in the student ministry at Lakepointe Church.

In 2016, Alex began working at Lakepointe and we would catch up when our paths crossed. Our friendship led to a first date and we were engaged five months later! We have been married for six years and have loved having time to develop a strong foundation to build a family on.

Alex works as the Audio/Visual Manager at the Plano Event Center. He enjoys using the nerdy side of his brain to troubleshoot technology and work alongside a team to make large and small events happen.

Ashton serves as the Children’s Pastor at Lakepointe Church. Her work entails overseeing a large team of volunteers that serve 1,800 kids on a weekly basis. Ashton loves working with kids and can’t wait to have her own kids in the ministry.

Alex and I shared a passion for building our family through adoption very early on into our relationship. While we are unsure if we will be able to have children biologically, we know we are ready to begin our family and cannot wait for holidays, vacations, the good days, and the hard days. We believe adoption is a visual representation of the gospel and we look forward to being able to share that with our kids one day!

Alex loves how Ashton is always thinking of others in everything she does. Whether it is planning family gatherings, or doing lego’s while watching our favorite show, she always has a smile on her face! I can’t wait to see all of the fun activities she plans for our family when there are little ones running around the house. I know she is going to love them so much and I am blessed to get to see her become a mom!

Ashton is so grateful the Lord gave her a man that is steady. Alex focuses on loving his people and Lord. She has had a front row seat seeing him light up working with kids and knows he is going to be an amazing father and will fill our home with laughter and unconditional love.

For fun, Alex and I enjoy going out to eat (specifically for queso) and then coming home to watch a television show. This feels boring- but we love it! We play on a recreational soccer team, love watching sports with our families, and the occasional day out shopping.

Ashton’s family has a lake house and we enjoy spending weekends at the lake with family.

Separately, Ashton enjoys crafting and listening to podcasts while Alex enjoys all things technology and playing guitar.

We have two dogs that we love dearly! Ashton’s family has eight dogs and this Halloween she dressed each of the dogs up in costume and had Instagram vote on the cutest costume. We spend each evening wrestling and cuddling and know we will have so much fun watching our pups love on our kids!

We moved into our 1,816 square foot home in December 2019. It has 3 bedrooms and a fenced backyard where we enjoy playing with the dogs. We also love taking walks to the nearby park and lake shore. Our neighborhood has an elementary school ranked in the top 10% of Texas districts.

We are extremely close with both sides of our family. Ashton’s family lives ten minutes from our house and we enjoy weekly dinners, games of Pickleball, swimming, or traveling to the lake. Alex’s family lives twenty minutes away. As die hard Cowboys fans, we try to watch as many games as we can together. We also enjoy going on camping trips, meeting for dinner, and spending quality time together.

Alex and I both thoroughly enjoy traveling and have loved several trips to Europe, Mexico, the Bahamas, and trips across the US. We cannot wait to explore the world with our child!

We also LOVE Christmas. We decorate on November 1st and spend November and December burning Christmas candles, listening to Christmas music, and fitting in as many Christmas activities as we can!

We are beyond grateful that you love your unborn child so much that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for him or her. While we have not experienced this love ourselves yet, we know there are no words for the love between a parent and their child.

No matter where you are in your journey or whether you feel led to get to know us further, we pray you feel all of the love and support in this season. We look forward to the possibility of getting to know you and are praying God’s protection and peace over you!
