Waiting Parents: Daniel and Mary

Mary and Daniel met 14 years ago in Venezuela at a barbecue with friends from the office. From that moment they have faced life’s experiences together. In August 2015 they celebrated their 11th anniversary both of their wedding and of their arrival in this intimidating country.

We arrived in Texas in August of 2004 with a handful of suitcases and a long list of goals to achieve and dreams to fulfill. Our greatest wish was to build a better future for ourselves and our family. After more than a decade of sacrifice, perseverance, and dedication, we have managed to set root in this marvelous land and we can now say that the United States is “our new home”.

We are the proud parents of Samuel, a 6-year-old boy who came into this world to bring smiles and joy to whomever he meets. A fast friend and classmate, as well as an exceptional student. His teachers constantly remark that they are fortunate to have him in their classes. He became a soccer fan in 2015, and at the same time started taking swimming and tennis classes. He spends hours playing Super Mario with his dad in his room. He helps his mom with the flowers and sets out feed for the birds who constantly visit our yard.

Our message to the biological parents:

It’s hard to capture with just a few words over a decade of family life. We ask God daily to grant us a meeting in person to portray more clearly who we are.

We have come to view adoption as the path God has laid out for us to return in kind the blessings we have received in life. Your child will be welcomed into a home with an open heart dedicated to loving, protecting, and raising him/her as we have done with our own child.

We are eager to meet you, to help you find inner peace by knowing that the path you are traveling down is the correct one and the one which will provide your child a future filled with hope. Bringing our families together in this way we can make this world a better place. We are merely God’s instrument for achieving this goal.

learn more about Mary
Mary is 40 years old, with dark brown hair and black eyes. She is 5’5” tall. She was born in Venezuela and studied Petroleum Engineering. Fifteen years ago she began work in the oil industry, the profession which in fact first attracted her to Texas.

She loves to cook: as they say in Venezuela, a great way to show love is with a meal prepared from the heart. Her mother taught her as a child cooking techniques and recipes. Now that her mother has taken her place in heaven, she feels cooking is one way to keep her present. Her brother is two years older than she, and she has a newphew (10) and a niece (6) who were born and live in Costa Rica.

She has a passion for photography. She enjoys relaxing to good music, but if the music is upbeat, she can’t stop dancing. Swimming and volleyball are her favorite sports. Nature holds a special place in her life, and every day
she teaches Samuel how to care for and protect it.

Daniel has a reputation among family and friends for being the comic who keeps everyone entertained at parties. As a youngster he played a number of sports, his favorites being tennis and softball. Like any good Venezuelan, he is a huge baseball fan. He has a big, tight-knit family, having spent his youth surrounded by cousins, aunts, and uncles. He is the younger of two brothers and he has a 6-year-old niece who was born and lives in Spain. His parents still live in Venezuela.

He loves the outdoors and exploring by car, just to see what new sights and scenes he happens across.

Daniel and Mary's house

Neighborhood and school:

We live in a small city built around the oil industry, where we lead a quiet and comfortable life. All we need is located close by, and the best part: no traffic!

Samuel attends a private Catholic school where, in addition to receiving an excellent education, they reinforce compassion and respect for those of all walks of life. This is particularly important to us, because it coincides with our own family beliefs: treating others respectfully as equals.

Our house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is located in a cul-de-sac. Together with our friends and neighbors we have converted the front yard variously into a baseball stadium, tennis and basketball courts, football and soccer fields, picnic area, and cycling arena, just to name a few. And we have the most famous swing set on the whole block!
