Explaining adoption to the adopted child is extremely
important. By not telling the child about his or her adoption, they may feel
that it is something to be ashamed of. Some parents feel that hiding the
knowledge of their adoption might be in the child’s best interest, but in
fact it has been proven time and time again that it is not. Many children who
are told later in life about their adoption feel like their whole world is
shaken. Sharing the truth about their adoption, and how much they were wanted,
not only explains who and where they came from, but it also educates the child
about the acts of love, and the sacrifices made in the name of love.
